Alice Hasen and Josh Threlkeld may be Memphis’ newest duo, but the two performers combine decades of experience honing their craft and sharing their passion for their instruments.  Their act, which will appeal to fans of Nickel Creek, Fleet Foxes, Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas, was founded upon a love of spontaneity and the sheer joy of music-making.  Instrumental flights of fancy are part of every show – in fact, to the delight of their audiences, each Hasen & Threlkeld performance always includes a completely improvised new tune, exclusive to that night’s show.  Hasen’s violin and Threlkeld’s guitar, well-matched in their virtuosity, are equally at home playing Irish Jigs and down-home Memphis grooves, sometimes in the same jam session.  Although a relatively new group, the pair has won a following in the mid-South, recently performing at the Green Room at Crosstown Arts (Memphis’ premier listening room) and the 2023 Mississippi Moon Festival.  Their debut EP, “Aisling Farm Sessions,” dropped August 25, 2023 to a warm reception, with one track featured on Spotify’s “New Grass” editorial playlist.  From reinventions of old fiddle tunes to dynamic improvisation, Hasen & Threlkeld transport their audience to vibrant and unexpected soundscapes where no one performance ever resembles the next.
